The customer has repaid a loan fully, but the account still appears as active, overdue, or open in their credit report or lender ledger.

Loan Closure

Required documents

  • Final loan settlement statement
  • Receipt of last EMI / full payment
  • NOC or closure certificate
  • Bank statement showing the final payment
  • Loan account closure communication

Contact order

  1. Customer Support
  2. Grievance Officer
  3. Nodal Officer
  4. Credit Bureau / Regulator

Timeline

  • Initial review: 3–5 business days
  • Status update in lender systems: 7–14 business days
  • Bureau update after lender confirmation: 15–30 days

Escalation path

  • Request a closure letter if the lender has not issued one
  • Escalate to the Grievance Officer after one week with the documents
  • Approach the Nodal Officer if the lender does not close the account in 10–15 days
  • File with the Ombudsman or consumer court if the account remains wrongly active after 30 days
